3D art is easier to get into because it takes care of certain aspects you would have to do by hand in 2D, like lighting or perspective. 3D modeling softwares are definitely more complex than 2D drawing tools, so IF you're a beginner I advice you to use 2D art, or choose 3D, the choice is yours.
